CIVILIAN OBSERVER PROGRAM

The Lexington Police Department offers citizens the ability to "ride along" with an officer to get a first hand look at the job of a police officer and how the police department functions.

A few of he minimum requirements are as follows:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must not have any active wants/warrants
• Must not have been convicted of a felony
• Must sign Liability Release form

If you would like to ride along with an officer, please stop by the station to fill out an application form.  You will not ride with an officer at the time you fill out this application.  All applicants will have a brief background check completed prior to be approved by the Chief of Police.  Once your application is approved, you will be notified by phone to schedule a time to ride.  Ride alongs are limited to four (4) hours per calendar month and will be scheduled as directed by the Chief of Police.  Please note that the Chief of Police has sole discretion concerning approval and denial of applicants  If you have any questions regarding this program, feel free to contact the police department at (419)884-1032.
