VEHICLE LOCKOUTS

The Lexington Police Department prides itself in being the only law enforcement agency in the county to provide lockout services to our residents and visitors.  If you find that you have locked your keys inside your vehicle, simply call the police department at 419-884-1032 and provide the following:

• Your Name
• Your Location
• Type of Vehicle
• License Plate (if known)

One of officers will be dispatched to your location to assist you in gaining access into your vehicle.  This service is performed on an "as available" basis.  Be aware that during peak activity hours, there may be a short wait before an officer is available to help you.  Also note that officers are not always able to obtain access into you vehicle.  In the event an officer is unable to gain entry or is called away, he/she will be happy to contact a local towing service to assist you.  Our department cannot recommend a specific towing company, but should you not have a preference, we will call the company on duty for that day.  If a towing company must be called, you will be responsible for any charges relating to their services.  Please advise the officer if you have any special coverage such as AAA or Roadside Assistance so that we can contact a free service should one be of use to you.  Due to liability concerns, we can only provide this service within the village limits.
